Greetings - Mr. Michael Deeney Staff Bio

Hello, my name is Michael Deeney and I’ve been working with young men and women to achieve their goals for over 19 years. After years journeying through different youth centers, summer camps, before/after school programs, and different schools here in Cranston, I found my way to Bain where I’ve found a home these last five years. I primarily teach Readers/Writers Workshop for the 6th graders, and Content Literacy for the 7th/8th graders. These are hybrid ELA/STEM classes which prepare students for the challenges they will face in a more technology advanced world. Moving to Rhode Island from Minnesota, where I was born and raised, was a bit of an adjustment. I still root for the Gophers and Vikings, but after doing masters work at Providence College, have become a fan of the Friars as well. My English degree specialized in Shakespearian Literature, and students will often find literary quotes sprinkled through various activities. Daily Trivia, Vocabulary Bingo, and Kahoot have been highlights for a great many of my students while here at Bain. As a Unified Arts Teacher, I work with many different students, and am not committed to one team.
